Take a Break
Luke 10:41-42 And Jesus answered and said unto her, “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken from her.”
How many of you have a To-Do list? I live by my To-Do list. It daily haunts my mind and drives me to keep pushing forward to get a lot accomplished. As women, we have many roles and tasks that seem to demand our attention. My desire in this blog is to give you an opportunity to put your list aside for a moment and spend some time focusing on the one thing that really matters, your relationship with God.
In Luke 10, we are introduced to Mary and Martha. Jesus and His disciples came to Bethany and was welcomed into their home. As Jesus taught, Martha busied herself with serving her guests while Mary simply sat at the feet of Jesus listening to Him teach. Martha begged Jesus to make her sister help her. Jesus told her that Mary had chosen the more needful thing. He did not tell her not to serve, but merely reminded her that making time to sit at His feet needed to be her most important priority.
God sees your To-Do list. He knows the burdens you bear, yet He still invites you to make spending time with Him your utmost priority. My prayer is that this blog will be an encouragement to you in the middle of your chaos, a break from the To-Do list that haunts you, and a spiritual appetizer that will grow your hunger for further study in the Word of God.
So grab a cup of coffee (or heat up the cup that has grown cold) and take a break. Get into God’s Word for a few moments and spend some quality time at His feet.
