- In the verbal, plenary inspiration of the original
manuscripts comprising the sixty-six books of the Bible.
The Word of God is inerrant, infallible, and authoritative. It is
the standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opions are
tried. As such, man must move from truth to experience and not
vice versa. (II Peter 1:12-21; II Timothy 3:16-17)
- There is only one true and living God eternally
existing in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son,
and God the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Godhead is equal in
every divine perfection. (Genesis 1:1, 26)
- Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and
born of a virgin. He is fully God and fully man. He died on
the cross, shedding His blood as the payment for sin. He was
buried and bodliy rose again on the third day. He ascended into
heaven and is presently at the right hand of God the Father interceding
for the child of God. (John 1:1, 14; II Peter 2:24; I Corinthians 15:1-3; I John 2:1)
- Man was created in the image of God. Man, by voluntarily transgression, fell
from his sinless state and is totally depraved and under the just
condemnation of God without excuse. Man is unable to alter his
lost and hopeless condition. (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 5:12; John 3:36; Ephesians 2:1-9)
- Salvation is a free gift of God's grace received through faith. It is not obtained by man's works, character, or
will. It is solely a work of God by His Spirit and the Word of
God. Once the sinner receives the gift of eternal life, it can
never be lost. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:27-29; Titus 3:5)
- The Holy Spirit is one of the persons of the
Godhead. He is God the Father's agent in the new birth. He
seals, indwells, comforts, illuminates, teaches and guides the child of
God. (Titus 3:5; Ephesians 1:13; I Corinthians 1-2, 6:19; John 14:16, 16:13)
- In the pre-tribulational, pre-millennial return of Christ in the air for His Bride, the church. (I Thessalonians 1:10, 4:13-16; Revelation 20:1-3)
- The local church's membership is composed of saved
and then baptized by immersion individuals who have covenanted together
in beliefs and practice (Acts 2:38-41).
We are Baptist is both belief and polity. We adhere to Biblical
authority, Autonomy of the local church, the Priesthood of all
believers, Two offices (pastor and deacon), Individual soul liberty,
saved and baptized membership, and Two ordinances (Lord's Supper and
water baptism).
- The local church is self-governing, responsible
directly and solely to our Head, Jesus Christ. The local church
is to be free from heirarchal organizations. It is Scriptual for
local churches to voluntarily fellowship for edification, contending
for The Faith, and the furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus
Christ. (Acts 15; Colossians 1:18; I Corinthians 12:27) Riverside Drive Baptist Church is in fellowship with the Northeast Regular Baptist Fellowship of Churches (NRBFC).
- The believer is to separate from sin and worldly
practices which are forbidden by Scripture, dishonor the Lord, and
bring reporach upon the church. The holiness of God is the basis
for personal separation. (I John 2:15-17; I Peter 1:14-15)
- The local church is to remain separated from
affiliation, fellowship and cooperation with all those who deny
Biblical Doctrine or endorse compromising alliances whereby Scriptural
truth is ignored. All acts of Biblical separation must be
practiced with grace, humility, compassion and devotion to Christ in
order to please and glorify the Lord. The holiness of God is the basis for ecclesiastical separation. (II Corinthians 6:14; I Thessalonians 1:9-10; I Timothy 6:3-5; II John 9-11; I Peter 1:15)
